The objectives of this doctoral program in the urban planning specialty focus on "the challenges of the contemporary city and sustainable urban planning." They are as follows: 1. Develop a methodology integrating qualitative (ethnography, field observations) and quantitative (surveys, statistical analyses) approaches to study urban resilience and sustainable urban planning from their environmental, social, and aesthetic perspectives. 2. Experiment with this hybrid methodology by applying it to the analysis of sustainable urban planning initiatives aimed at improving biodiversity, citizen experience, and soft mobility in different neighborhoods and cities. 3. Evaluate the impact of these sustainable urban planning initiatives on the resilience and regeneration of urban environments, by measuring their positive effects on the environment, the living environment, and the well-being of residents. 4. Initiate a critical reflection on what resilient urban development means, sustainable urban planning that is regenerative and has a positive impact, by considering the social, cultural, ecological and economic dimensions in a holistic manner. 5. Develop tools and recommendations for designing and implementing sustainable urban planning projects that are resilient and regenerative, combining environmental aesthetics, plant biodiversity, enriched citizen experience and soft mobility. This research program on sustainable urban planning, combining field approaches and detailed analyses, will make it possible to model the complex interactions at play in the creation of aesthetically hedonic, inclusive and sustainable urban environments. This doctoral training will generate new knowledge and operational tools to rethink the city of tomorrow, by closely involving citizens and promoting regenerative and nature-conscious development in the city.
